RES Distances Calculator

**The RES Distances Calculator** is a simple but very useful community tool for *Elite Dangerous* players who bounty hunt or mine in Resource Extraction Sites (RES). It calculates straight-line distances from any system you enter to other systems that contain RES or Compromised Nav Beacons (CBN). This saves players from manually checking the galaxy map or relying on incomplete in-game data when looking for nearby high-value farming locations, especially Hazardous RES for combat bounties. To use it, you simply type your current system name into the tool (available at edtools.cc/res) and it returns a list of nearby systems with RES, sorted by distance in light-years. Each entry shows the type of RES available (e.g. Hazardous, High, etc.), whether there are stations or outposts nearby for repairs and rearming, and other useful notes. The data is manually maintained by the community rather than pulled automatically, so it is not 100% complete, but it remains one of the quickest ways to find good RES farming systems close to your location.

frequently ask questions

You can access it here: https://edtools.cc/res
It’s a free community tool. Just type in your current system name and it will show nearby systems that have RES or Compromised Nav Beacons.

Why doesn’t it show any results when I search for my system?
Answer:
The tool’s database is manually maintained and not complete. Many systems that actually have RES are simply not added yet. If nothing shows up, it usually means that system (or nearby ones) hasn’t been entered into the database yet.

Does the tool show me exactly where the RES is inside the system (which planet/ring)?
No. The RES Distances Calculator only shows which systems have RES or Compromised Nav Beacons and how far they are. It does not tell you the specific planet or ring. Once you arrive in the system, you still need to check the System Map in-game to find the actual RES locations.
